Philippine Calamansi

Calamansi fruit, also known as Calamondin, is a fruit tree native to the Philippines. It is the most commonly grown backyard tree among the citrus species in the country.

It can thrive in a wide variety of environmental conditions. The fruit has various uses from ordinary household to medicinal ones. It can be used on the hair to eliminate itching and promote hair growth. Rubbing calamansi juice on insect bites banishes the itching and irritations. It bleaches freckles and helps clear up symptoms of acne vulgaris and pruritus vulvae. It is taken orally as a cough remedy and antiphlogistic. Slightly diluted and induced warm, it serves as a laxative. Combined with pepper, it is prescribed in Malaya to expel phlegm.
